The rapid evolution of portable electronics, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and high-performance computing systems has intensified the demand for energy-efficient Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) designs. Power consumption has emerged as a primary constraint in modern CMOS technologies, particularly as transistor dimensions scale into deep submicron and nanometer regimes. Leakage currents, short-channel effects, and increased integration density significantly impact both static and dynamic power dissipation. This paper presents a comprehensive design and analysis of energy-efficient CMOS circuits tailored for next-generation VLSI systems. The proposed framework integrates low-power design methodologies including voltage scaling, transistor sizing optimization, multi-threshold CMOS (MTCMOS), and power gating techniques to minimize overall energy consumption while maintaining acceptable performance. Circuit-level simulations were conducted using standard CMOS technology nodes to evaluate power, delay, power-delay product (PDP), and energy-delay product (EDP). Experimental results demonstrate up to 42% reduction in total power consumption and 38% improvement in PDP compared to conventional CMOS designs. The analysis confirms that carefully optimized energy-efficient CMOS circuits can significantly enhance battery lifetime, thermal reliability, and scalability of future VLSI systems, making them suitable for low-power and high-performance applications alike.
