Abstract

The challenges faced by elderly and disabled individuals in performing basic daily tasks, such as operating household appliances, highlight a significant need for electronic assistive technology. This project presents the design and implementation of an efficient, low-cost Voice-Activated Home Automation System developed specifically to enhance the independence, safety, and comfort of these individuals. The system allows users to control various electrical appliances (lights, fans, air conditioners, etc.) using simple voice commands, eliminating the need for physical movement to wall switches. This paper presents a voice-controlled home automation system designed to assist elderly and disabled individuals who face challenges using physical switches. The system utilizes a microcontroller and voice recognition technology to control household appliances such as lights and fans through simple spoken commands. This hands-free approach eliminates the need for physical movement, ensuring greater independence and safety for users. The proposed solution is cost- effective, easy to install, and provides a reliable interface for assisted living.
